i used 1/2" very stable, but i would go with 3/4" if i did it again. the arch section is 2 bent pvc pipes joined in the middle, tip your oven set at 350 for for a few min or till the pvc gets soft is and easy way to bend pvc. (or if you have a heating blanket for pvc that will work better.) the arch goes in to the sand, and then t's off for the support legs.i used 1/2" for all this also. bigger would proly be more stable(but a lil harder to hide).be sure to calculate the added size of your rocks on the pvc,(would suck to place the pvc in and find out your rocks stick out of the water)i wnat to buy another tank just so i can make a new frame design, by far my favorite part of setting up a aquarium is the aquascaping. enjoy it and go nutz you got alot of room to work with!!
    your imagination is the limit
i would check out what some of the prize corals and fish you would like to keep and design spots specifically for them. i love to see a section i designed for fish or coral and have them thrive in it.
(no it do not always work they way you want but with good planning it will come really close) you got otty on your side so your in great shape

i will be posting a tank thread on show off your tank. ill have pics of the whole tank as it progressed, im pretty sure i got pics of the pvc in befor the rocks and sand. and pics of the rocks going in. ill try to get it up within the next couple days. should be helpful.

OH YEAH MAKE SURE YOU CAP THE ENDS, UNWANTED CRITTERS CAN GET BIG INSIDE THOSE PIPES, REALLY BIG.!

Thanks BluePhish! I'll be looking for your thread and the aquascaping pics. I need a visual of the PVC frame to get an idea of size vs rock weight, etc. I have lots of cooked LR to use so it should be a fun project. Caps on the ends...good tip! Never would have thought of that detail :-[ Kas

Today was the BIG day! Scott arrived at 9am after a 3 1/2 hour ride from Indiana. Lookin' good, huh?

Didn't take him long to get buried in the tank stand:

Ran into some problems with faulty bulk-heads. Luckily Scott had some spares he brought along "just in case".

It's all starting to come together. Check out the tower of "hook ups" for future equipment. And of course Scott gave me lots of good ideas where and how to spend my $$$!

At this point we took a break and joined a group of Japanese friends at a restaurant in Marysville. The ride to town on Scott's bike was the highlight of my day! OK, back to the tank. Glue is dry, tank is holding H2O, pump is fired up and water is actually running smoothly through all pipes! Poor Scott is dead tired by now. He's also going home with a split lip and sore knees......this is hard work! But what a great job he did! Thanks Scott ;D

Made it home safe, glad to see you are pleased. Now it's time to work on LR structure, make a bunch of RO/DI water. :)

It's a 01 Ultra and I rolled it over to 107k on the way to her house. This one wasn't bought to sit in the garage. I should of grabbed the rest of the Rhubarb pie that was sitting on the counter when I left though... :)
