Keep Clean.

55 gallon tank, with stock HOB filters and an Aquarium Systems (Instant Ocean) protein skimmer, and 1 power head. I feel like my stuff is junk and in actuality it is I believe. I again, am only 19 but I have saved up over the years so I think I have a fairly lenient budget and my parents are willing to help me out is there and specs that you all prefer I heard about the Octopus skimmer but as far as sumps go are they really necessary? and ideal filters also? 8)

AquaC Remora Skimmer for a 55, you won't regret it! And yes, since I have my fuge/sump up and running on the 135, I can now see the benefits. I've got a little cyano in the fuge, and none in the tank, the Chaeto is working hard and growing as my nitrates were 0 when I checked the other day! It really helps keep your tank healthier!

Heck no! if you can get one running for your 55, that would be AWESOME! I just never really knew how much I would have benefitted by having one, when I had my 55! If you can, then YES, you should!!!
