Keeping a school of tangs

Yeah, pretty mcuh. Just get them from the sae place, all at the same time...its preferable that they were together when you got them from the store though.

I have both a purple and a sailfin. The Sailfin is MUCH more aggressive than the purple.

The sailfin is a very fast grower and can get very large even in the home aquaria. I would not do over 3 in a 300 tank. More can be done, especially when young, but when they get 18", that is a lot of fish.

 

tell me about it, my first tank was a 40 gallon. and not knowing what would happen i put a sailfin tang in there. it got 9 inches long after 5 months. it was 3 inches when we got it. we then upgraded to a 75 but he kept growing so we just traded hi in for a yellow.

 

you give your fish steroids? a sailfin will not grow 6" in 5 months.

 

If you do go with the yellows/single purple make sure the purple is much smaller than the yellows so aggression issues will be minimized.
