I have been wanting to do a reef tank for awhile but havent had the money until recently and so I have researched and came to the conclusion of doing a nano tank because live rock is so expensive. But today i was on craigslist and seen an ad for a reef store about an hour away the was selling live rock for 2.50 a pound so long story short Im leaving work soon and going straight there to buy enough for my 55 gallon tank sense it is so cheap but I dont have the tank ready it still has my freshwater fish in it that will require me switching the stocking in all my tanks to free up the tank. My question is can i just put the rock in a rubbermaid bin with saltwater and a hob filter to keep it alive until im ready to use it or how else can i keep it alive until i am ready.

Good luck with the tank build On388

no problem, you can keep the rock in a rubber maid or similar food grade quality holding vessel until your ready to use it

I would suggest a power head in there for more water movement, keeping the tub oxygenated etc

+1 might not be a bad idea to add a bubblemaker with an airstone, if your going to keep it for a while.

Exactly what they said, just use a bucket with an airstone and You will be set
