That is some great news. I wish I could find a mandarin that is trained to eat other foods!

    And a bigger tank... Lol

You can! Saltwaterfish.com has ORA Target Mandarins. Today Dilly is doing wonderfully!! Not only is she eating the new Hikari blood worms I got for her but she is now peck peck pecking at the pods! Which I just ordered 1000 of :)
Size wise she's perfect for my 26g. Most would be concerned about it being able to sustain a proper pod population. But I've taken this into consideration. 1 there's no competition for the pods she eats. 2 they're easily replenished if one is willing to go the extra mile. 3 she has another food source which is healthy for her. I'm determined to prove the Target Mandarin can be kept successfully in a tank under 40g's happily and healthy at that :)

That is awesome and I am excited for this. I have been wanting a Mandarin since I started this hobby but I have always been afraid of keeping it fed because of how picky they can be. You may inspire me to try the same once I get everything settled and of course a bigger tank since my 10g is just too small however I have enough pods in there I bet I could feed a Mandarin for a day LOL. I have so many I counted just the ones on my front glass and got about a third of the way down the tank and gave up counting. It is pretty ridiculous honestly but I don't have any predators in my tank and it's been up for about 2 and a half months.

Pods is all they really will eat & live... I have two pair of them & one pair will eat frozen food but they started to get skinny so I bought some pods for that tank & now they are doing awesome... Best of luck

I'm concerned about Dilly's ability to eat. As stated she loves blood worms. I ordered the Hikari as they are much healthier for her. At first I was putting them in whole. I would watch her go after them with zest but only after several attempts would she manage to snag one and down it goes. So then I decided to chop them (thinking they're to big) up but she is displaying the same behavior. She seems to have a very hard time with her aim so to speak. More times then not she misses while attempting to eat. She wont touch the food if it's stationary. Only while it's moving will she go after them. However I must turn off the flow or she would never be able to get any.

I don't know what to do. She doesn't seem to be loosing weight but I would feel so much better knowing/seeing that she's eating plenty.

you did say you stocked with pods? they don't always eat on demand..I had one for 4 years..never fed anything special...just made sure the pods were plentiful...as long as I seen him peck 'n...he was fat as a sausage...all was good...but 4 years later... skinny 'ed up and became crab food . : ( hope he's ok...but I think if hes not get'n skinny...all is well...check on 'em late at night..thats when the pods are out...most feeding occurs then with the manderin..ime.;)
