I had 1 black and white and 1 ocillarlis about same size put in at the same time. Ocillarlis killed the black and white one in less then 2 weeks. My tank was smaller tho it was only a 20 so that might make a difference

Depending on how much rock and hiding spaces you have, 90 gallons should be big enough. I agree with Cosmo though with the acclimation box method.

Well I am going on personal experience of my multiple times of trying to do this. In my 120 and my current 85 gal cube. Neither worked and i tried almost everything. There is also hundreds of threads of peoples failed attempts to achieve the multiple pairs. I had most recently lost one of my platinums clowns due to much agression from the other two. With your tank being only like 5 gallons larger I fear a similiar outcome.

I dont think acclimation box will work because you will be forcing that third clown out on display with nowhere to go, The other clowns wont be able to not notice it, forcing aggression. This wont allow the clowns to settle in or be comfortable if needing to hide.

If you had success with doing this scenario Cosmo with your acclimation box can you please post the steps and methods you took.

I've never tried it personally for clowns, however I do use it to introduce new fish due to my dotty back not liking new friends! The fish over a few hours or so gradual seem to get used to it! I believe evolved wrasse thread shows his method if you're interested! IMO If the op really wants to try his hand at this, this would give him an opportunity to see if the 2 clowns are gonna go all cujo on the new guy! It may not work, but at least this way the new guy is safe unharmed and easy to get back out!;)

I know of somebody that has several clowns in a 90 gallon tank. It can be done. Most of the time though, you have to add the clowns at the same time, but I know this guy didn't do that lol.

I see what you guys are saying, but reading back to the ops question combing two existing tanks into one, Meaning the tank will already have an established clown living in their who has created his territory.

Its not adding the clowns at the exact same time, and they are also not very young and small by sound of age. That is why i dont think the op would have success. Thats just my point.

If it were a new tank setup that would be one thing, but op asked about adding a third clown to an established tank thAT ALREADY CONTAINED CLOWNS.

It can never hurt to try. It is a 90 gallon tank, and we don't even know if the pair in there is actually mated or not. I'm not saying it will work either. It could turn out very badly actually.
