Kent Marines Tech M

Does anyone have any exp. with Kent Marine's Tech M? I heard that it lowers PH, is this true. I just bought some and heard that after the fact.

 

it lowers pH, but not enough to matter.

 

I ask b/c Im shruggling with PH as it is and dont want anything that will help bring it down any further.

 

then dont use it if your having pH problems, because it will lower it a little.

Its just Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium sulfate I have used several gallons of it over this past winter never a problem with P.H caused by its use .. If you are having P.H issues try inducing more air into the system to help push out the CO'2s.. Take a cup of your tank water test the P.H when sample is taken then set the cup outside and with a air stone and let it set out bubble for a few hr's and see what the P.H is then.
This time of the yr and depending on is house is closed up tight the CO2 level rises anyways My P.H right now is at 7.7 Lights are off and tank is just waking up to the actinics so thats a O.K P.H for me it will rise during the day. The Carbonates are good at 12 DKH so I worry not about P.H the magnesium level is far more important then P.H

 

Thats funny you should mention that, for some reason I cant get my ph above 8.10. My ph in the morning is sometimes at 7.7-7.8, which was making me freak out. I know that ph fluctuates during the course of the day, but 7.7.I started dosing kalk at night not to long ago and it sometimes helps to maint. the ph at 7.9(at night) but sometimes it doesnt. I dont know if Im not mixing it correctly at times. I did place an air pump outside for 3 weeks and it didnt do a damn thing. I dont understand why I cant get my ph up? I tested yesterday and these are my results;
ph7.9-8.0 Dkh13.8 cal 460 mag 1400 sg 1.025 No3 15-20ppm.

 

I mentioned it for the reason most do spaze out over P.H and it really means very little I would not even bother testing for it really . I use a meter just as a reference . If you keep your DKH like you have it then you are fine. Have you tried to set a glass of the tanks water outside and add an air stone to that ? Its just CO'2 I'd say . Like with running a Calcium reactor that Gas acclimate in the room or under the tank in the stand will lower the P.H But like I said I could care less about P.H myself.

Then age of the tank can cause a system to go into a falling P.H problem most tend to not realize that the aragonite sand will dissolve and will need replaceing over time . And that can effect the P.H also..

 

if pH didnt matter then the Ca reactors media wouldnt melt, with low O2 and high CO2 in the tank would suffocate livestock, having the correct pH allows the corals to transfer the Ca and dKH. pH is in direct connection with O2,CO2, and the correct ratio of Ca, Mg, dKH. with low pH undesired algae and dinoflagellates grow, CaOH2 has a high pH. so i dont understand how you can say pH doesnt matter.

these numbers arent bad, and the pH is a little low but none to worry. do you dose CaOH2 with ro/di?

 

What is CaOH2? Pardon my ignorance. Dont get me wrong, Im not totally freaked out b/c my livestock looks good and healthy. I just wonder if I had my ph a little higher would that make a bigger difference on health wise.
