Am I reading these instructions right? 1 ml per gallon to only raise the mag 18.3 ppm per day?I have a small patch of bryopsis i want to nip in the bud before it gets out of hand. So,my mag right now is 1320ppm and i want to raise my mag at 100 ppm per day till i reach 1600ppm to kill the bryopsis. With a 55 gal tank with about 45ish gallon water volume atm.I'll need to dose close to 230 ml per day to achieve this.Is this correct? If it's is correct, can i dose at one time?I do i need to make a diy drip doser?I've never dosed mag, just 2 part(my tank is mixed reef, but softie dominated) and this seems like a ridiculous amount to me.If this is correct,i'm gonna need a bigger jug.

K+ to anyone that can help me with this! :)

My math works it out as 245 mils to raise 45 gallons 100ppm

    100 divide 18.3 = 5.46 - you need 5.46 mils to raise 1 gallon to 100ppm
    5.46 x 45 = 245.9

dripping it in over the course of a few hours using a plastic bottle and clamped airline is a good idea IMO

Dagnabbit! ;),i just ordered some with a few other things and didn't read the dosing instructions.Lol,i got the smallest cheapest one just to get the job done, not to continually dose. So,my order comes in and i'm sitting here reading this and thinking "what the heck!",doing the math off the top of my head, this dinky bottle wont make it one day.

Now to butter up my wife for an excuse to make another order, lol.

    Thank you Steve

You are correct. When you dose the Tech-M turn off all of your flow and use a baster or syringe to dose it directly on the worst bryopsis. You may also need to go to 2000ppm. Keep track of your SG as it will rise from adding that much Mg.

You are a mind reader,I was just wondering the same.I've done alot of research on bryopsis from when i had it before, the level of the mag helps, but it's one of the ingredients in tech m that makes it work to kill it off, thats why other mag suppliments don't work.

But I was literally just wondering about using a syringe and dosing right into the algae (it's just a small patch, but i see the fern edges and I don't want a repeat of last time.),leave flow off for an half hour and blast it several times a day for a few days with mabey 15/20 ml at a time? While monitoring params of coarse.

Sounds like a plan. I saw on one of the forums I was on when I was having problems with bryopsis where the poster had dumped the dose on the patch and wiped it out pretty quick. Your corals may bleach but will recover when you get below 1500ppm Mg.

Just buy the mag from BRS and save yourself a car payment.

Thanks 2in10,thats just how i'll do it,plus i can get a couple small bottles here locally for no longer than i'll be using it.
If you read this thread you would see that i'm not dosing full time, this is just to kill some algae, brs doesn't work for bryopsis to my knowledge, only tech m does.Besides that,it's fairly cheap for no more than I need,it's not like i'm buying purple up or something.
