my tree looks a lil bleached, i got it from a person who has T5HO just like me, and it opened and looked really great a few days ago, now it seems to be closing up and one of the stalks looks a little bleached....I had it at the top of my tank which is about 5 or 7 inches from the T5HO's...can it bleach from to much light?

IMO they do better in the sand bed..they are a lower light coral..and don't need much to survive

I would give it a couple of days. Kenya's are very hardy and will close up every once in awhile only to open up larger then before. Is there any kinds of goo around the Kenya?

Mine did this recently when I moved it around too much, closed up for about a week and now is huge. At one point I thought it was dead and almost pitched it but someone on these forums stopped me :)

    Good luck!

If you kill a kenye tree, then you are the man! I could kill mine if my tank exploded.

I had a big one stay shriveled for about 3 weeks to a month or so....it was SAD looking, and purple when it used to be pink..but i noticed it wasnt rotting away..so I left it alone...and then all of a sudden BOOM it came back up and was like twice the size and pinker than ever..so not matter how long its down just let it be if its not withering away..it will probably come back

Agreed, they usually have some kind of goo around them when they close up. I have read you can make them open faster if you use a power head to blow off any excess. I agree that it will come back they are damn near impossible to kill. They are the aiptasia of corals.

if the pieces are falling off of it it is reproducing. Trust me on this, just plant the pieces that fell off on some rock and it will grow insanley fast, mine started off as a 3inch frag now I have a colony about a foot long and 9 inches wide.
