I have added a kenya tree about 2 weeks ago and at that time it was about 6-7 inches tall. Over the last couple of weeks it has continued to shrink down and then started to lay over on its side. I have noticed in the last couple of days that right at the base where it is attached to the rock that it is starting to look like a small hole. My fiance rearranged the rock a little to give it some support so it wouldn't tear away from the rock anymore then it has. Now my lfs said that they don't tolerate moves well and that it may take a couple of weeks to perk back up. I noticed this morning that when I just had the t-5 on that it looked like that was the case. Then we turned on the PCs and it wilted again. It is located over half way up in the tank. The person I purchased it from just had PCs, the same as what I have. Could it be with both my Pcs and t-5 going at once that it is to much light. And what can I use to reattach the base to the rock if anything, or just let it be? Thanks in advance.

I would be surprised if it was too much light, I have mine under metal halides. My Kenya’s are very resilient and grow like weeds so I’m not sure the move was the cause. I do notice they are sensitive to water flow. If you have a power head blasting right onto it they shrink up, try an area of low flow.

They are wierd at times--mine looks totally dead at times--and 15 min later it looks perfect.

You can reattach with coral glue if you want or just leave it in the sand. mine only stands when i have the MH on for about 8 hrs. Otherwise they droop; However it is nice and healthy and has fragged its self several times.

I would check over your water parameters carefully. Something is most likely going wrong. They are excellent water quality indicators and will change drastically if something goes amiss. Pay particular attention to your temp and PH.
I also highly doubt too much lighting. I have double the lighting you have on my 40, and my Kenya soaks it up gratefully ;)

Thanks guys. We have been struggling to keep the Ph up. Can't seem to get it above 8. Temp is always 79-80. Picking up a calcium and magnesium test today when I return our carnivourous snail(hes eaten a couple of hermits) The kenya looks much better today. Perked right up when lights came on.
