So...i have to start thinking about a sandbed here...I want to have about a 3" bed....which is going to take about 300lbs of sand to do so...The LFS referred me to a guy that is breaking down his 125 that has about 200lbs of sand in it...now it is against my better judgement to do so, but since his tank isnt THAT old and I am gonna have to cycle before i move anything over from the old tank PLUS the price of sand is outrageous, I'm thinking of buying his sand, and then putting new sand with it to get what I need......any thoughts? or anyone wanna scold me? lol

great article...guess i'll do the washing of the sand at the old house tho...cuz the new house has copper pipes and without using ALL RO/DI water (which could take years to make enough to clean the sand) Id be putting copper into the sand, which would pretty much make it useless anyhow (unless you like dead inverts...and then we all might "wonder" about u) :)

Kevin, this is coming along great! While it would be a lot of work, personally I think I would strip the finish off the stand & refinish it to match the cabinets... just my 2cents. It would look like it was built there when the house was built.

Ballasts are ordered and endcaps with standoffs...got 2 IceCap 660's gonna run 8 48" 54w T5 overlaped (tank is 84" long)...once they are installed I MIGHT supplement those 8 lights with 2 PC, since i have them sitting here...just have to see if there is room. Next thing is trying to find 8 T5 reflectors...its like a scavenger hunt...but I got a killer deal on brand new ballasts!
