Is there any secret to growing the Kenya Tree Frag ? Maybe I am just too impatient, but I put it in yesterday & it looks pretty sickly. I got it from a local reef store. He tested the water sample I brought in & said it was perfect.

    Suggestions ?

    That's It

That is what it looks like & vey small. It looked so beautiful when I bought it ! . The manager of the reef store ( whom I trust very much ) said not to try to anchor them. Just drop it in & it would find its place. It is on the bottom now, looking just like you said.

Mine looked like that for the first day or two and then slowly opened up. You need to do something to help it anchor otherwise it might get blown all over the place. You can either put the base in the sand, wedge it between some rocks, or stick it in a hole in a rock. Those are the best ways I've found for it to naturally anchor and it only took a week at the most.

Thanks for your help. I did wedge it into a tiny hole in the rock. Hopefully this will make a differennce. I have a 10 gallon nano. My LPS told me to add one drop of calcium a week into the tank.He said this would also help my corals. Have you heard of this ?

I have a huge kenya tree that I just moved to another tank. Water is great in both tanks and it took over a week for it to open again? How long has it been since you got it? They are very hardy so I would not lose hope.

you shouldn't need to dose for anything yet
once you get more corals that consume calcium, sps and lps, then you might have to dose but you should be fine with just water changes.
