I finally got a KH/Alk test. Salifert. I had my water tested at my lfs on the 29th. KH was low. Don't remember the number. Bought Seachem Reef Builder, and dosed for 3 days. On the 1st I bought the test kit (I know, don't dose what you can't test). My KH was 10.6. No more dosing, but I did do a 5 gallon water change (55 gallon tank) last night. I tested my KH tonight, and my KH was down to 8.5. Is that normal to drop like that in 3 days?

That depends on the size of the tank, what the KH of the change water was and hard coral stocking of your tank.

also what is your calcium and mag? If those are not in line you will never ever keep the kH up. Also how long was the salt water mixing before you did water change. Did you test the new water before you did the water change? What was the alk at in that water

    Thanks for the replys.

I buy my water, and have a little left so I can test it. Unfortunatly I don't know when they mixed it. I do have a half dozen hard corals in my 55, though still small.

Time to invest in more test kits.

Calcium, Mag and KH are all reliant upon eachother. IMO not worth testing one without the others, so that'd be my first step. Before I got into a routine of dosing, my KH used to swing quite a lot, so I'd say it's possible. I found all the numbers quite hard to get my head around to begin with, but once you learn it, it's not too bad :)
