    Do you have a skimmer

    HI,
MAny corals are very sensative to water quality, most seem to do better if the water stays clean, skimmer is very good at polishing the water of waste products , many toxic things can get in water, many water sources have copper from plumbing, trace metals in things in the water release into the water, bad sand, bad salt,
If your buying your water what are they storing it in, many of my water stores have copper plumbing, we use special plumbing plastic/pvc in the lab cause our RO is so pure it will dissolve most metals. Mine reads ph 6.5 -18 resistance, some petstores use membranes that can and will fail if not adequately purged adequately while running .

Our better LPS use huge nagalen tanks for water storage and pvc plumbing.
ps have you been using some type of kalkwasser for ca addition, it can spike the KH .

Yes I do skim. I run a Coralife 220 turbo skimmer. I use my own RO water and my plumbing is the new plastice piping. The house is only 4 years old.
My total disolved solids are only 4-6ppm in my RO water. When I mix I do 20 gal at a time and its done in a plastic Rubbermaid storage container. Its only in there overnight. I was using Kalkwasser but since my calcium stayed so high I quit using it. I figured if my CA is not getting depleted why use it.

    hi,
i Too tried kallwasser and my KH has just now returned to the 12.5 range after nearly 2months with weekly 10% water changes so the buffer in the kalkwasser must be very strong. I have been using the CA/CL no buffer
My concern was how easy it was to precip at the >450 range with kalkwasser even with adequate mag.
How long ago did you add your last dose of Kalk.

My guess would be about 5 months ago.
