Kh off the charts?

    Ca is 420
    Ammonia 0
    Phosphate 0
    Nitrate and Trites 0

    And my kh is like 20, I have the API test kit.

    I dose Kent 2part a and b everyother day and everything has been stable for a few weeks

    How do you lower it?

    I would suspect the kit first. better to get another test kit or test water at an LFS before throwing things at the tank to solve a non-issue...

    It's a brand new kit, just bought yesterday, I'll bring some water to the lfs in a bit

    even more reason to suspect it... maybe it's been sitting in the store for a while? does it have a date on it?

    Also, there is no need to immediately lower your alkalinity... it will precipitate out if it is that high. I don't think it's possible for it to get that high without throwing the calcium out of balance and well below 400, which is why I suspect the Alk test kit...

    Yeap start with the test kit. Test it against the one at the LFS and test their water with your test.
