    hi all just a quick question have just started 4th week of cycle all tests are fine amonia ph nitrate nitrite only have high kh it is at 17 at the moment,any sugestions how to reduce?or is it just a matter of waiting,have added more bacteria 5ml per day to be exact for 1 week
    have just done 20 percent water change just 4 days ago,, please help,,,lots of thanks nas

    I wouldn't worry about it right now. It will go down on it's own if you don't add any supplements or water changes. What are your Ca and Mg levels at? Those 3 parameters are linked and you need to know all of them in order to raise/lower one of them successfully.

    In the cycle, you don't want to do a water change until maybe week 6 (with a fish) week 8 (without). Since you did one already, leave it alone for another 3 weeks. You can cool it on the bacteria until after you do the next water change. I think you mean DKH is 17, that is o.k. the tank will balance out. If this is going to house coral, you will need to check Magnesium and Calcium. The Mag "holds" the Cal and the Cal "holds" the Alk and the Alk "holds" the PH, this is called an elemental/chemical synergism.
