Wife calls in hysteria saying that her Powder Blue is dead. So after finding out what is going on. Our Powder Blue commited suicide getting caught in the rock formation.

With all the different forms of rock my Powder Blue decided that he is going to try to fit under it all (CRUSH!) little sound effect for staging purposes.

Tear it all apart to get to him and now how to put the rock back together so that this does not happen again.

What is the best way to stack rock to allow alot of hiding room along with saftey and not to metion to handle the growth?

OH NO! :( sorry for you loss...I feel for you as I love everything in my tank, but I think the thing that I would miss most would be my Powder Blue..it is the most expensive fish in my tank, but thats not the reason why...I love his attitude and beauty. Good question about the rock placement...was it from a shift due to the rock sitting "on" the sand..one store suggested that I put my rock in first then all my sand so that my rock would be sitting on the inanimate glass bottom instead of sand that could collapse from things sifting through it causing a avalance of rocks in my tank...they also suggested that I could use pvc piping or something similar to do the same thing..my fear of that was creating a bad nitrate storage area (unsure).

Sorry to hear that berlin joe, thats really to bad. ya really its pretty hard to be sure your rock is safe unless you use some kind of glue and or pcv piping. for me...i just pressed down the rock when i was first aqua scaping...i just pray that when my rocks fall they dont land on anything...one time my bridge of rocks fell and luckly missed the fish...but i was pretty scared.

sorry to hear about your loss! it is always a shame....

i found that using little dowels (pvc) inserted in holes drilled into the rock alows both stability and it can be taken apart should you need to, if you use milliput or reef putty it will come apart should you need it to but can look unsightly if any bits are left on show when it is reasembled.
