long story short trying to put a fan in my room and there was a big brown ring all where the old light had been. SO my moms like oh I have this kilz spray stuff so me an my dad are like whatever might as well try it to see if it does anything. Well apparently it likes to spray everywhere so there are now tons of little white dots floating on my recently cycled Mr. Aqua 17.4 Aquarium that I was just getting ready to stock. This really pisses me off considering I didnt even want the fan and they're getting mad at me because im being a "****" about it. but whatever she went to get real ceiling paint not ****ty 10 year old kilz primer so it will prob end up looking fine and I'll have a fan. But still is that tank basically poisoned now or what should I do. What pisses me off more is that they're acting like I was determined to get this freakin fan and I didn't even say anything about it, it was all them, but no im the "****". I need a new door and dehumidifier not a fan.

Do you have any livestock in the tank?

Make more water do a complete water change if possible and use lots of carbon to help pull the chemicals out. Plan on starting a new cycle.

thats what I was kinda thinking but I dunno what ill do then guess ill sleep on it. Just seems this tank has been nothing but trouble so far and im kind of over it now. Its like what do I want more having to deal with this tank(and sure it would prob turn out good) or sell it and buy a new bass amp and just be done with it.

Honestly your tank will probably be fine if the livestock hasn't already died off. Like 2in10 said, run more carbon to pull the chemicals out and do a water change. I wouldn't do a complete water change myself, just try to pull the white kilz that is floating on top of your water.

While I was at work one day, my 2 and 3 year old decided to pour a whole bottle of couch cleaning solution into my freshwater tank. My wife called me freaking out, and I had her turn the lights and filter off because I figured the tank was a goner. When I got home several hours later, all the fish were still swimming around like nothing had even happened, so I turned everything back on and it was all good.

Just watch your tank carefully and do a little extra maintenance on it and should be good.

I'd try to save it, but then I throughly enjoy this hobby, and I think it's worth the work in the end. ;D it's very rewarding to see ur tank inhabitatnts so happy.

Oh yeah, and being a parent myself and remembering being a teen; it sounds like your parents are just being typical parents. I'm sure they are just doing what they think is best even if it doesn't make much since lol. Who knows, maybe they are just planning for when you move out. Parents do what parents do best and it is what it is. Good luck.

decided im keeping the tank but stand is trashed anyway has been for awhile so when I empty it im gonna go ahead and get a new stand to. Might sell the skimmer since have never been able to get it to work anyway. Then ill prob buy a new light too. turn this into a frag tank like originally planned.
