Kind of snail??

What kind of snail is this??

 

I have never seen one like that before. I suspect it's some type of whelk. You'll probably have to PM Don. (Username: Pago Joe)

I'm interested in knowing too. I had one many years ago just like it & never got it ID'd. My guess was some kind of strombus or conch since it had a "snout."

Almost looks like a bumble bee snail, almost!

 

I'm going to say it some type of whelk too. You might want to keep an eye on it as most are predatory and hunt other snails or bi valves.

 

Yes, it's technically a whelk, same genus as the Bumblebee Snails (Engina). They will eat tiny animals, potentially including tiny vermetids and other small snails, and maybe your featherdusters. Other than that, at single specimen won't cause much problem in your tank (and no more problem than the normal Bumblebee snails).
