LOL yep completely normal! I've fished out huge CBS shells before complete with claws and antennae. I watched mine back out of his one day. It was crazy!

also, you asked earlier about your rock. I think you might want to add more before you add another fish. Yes you will need inverts to eat the wastes and more rock will help that too. As far as inverts, how about a small sand sifting star? cucumber worm? chiton?

Hey guys, I have fully stocked my little "Slice of the Ocean" tank. I have the cleaner shrimp, one scarlet hermit, a blue green chromis, and added two new buddies last night. A Condylactus anameone and a small false percula. They are a blast to have. the anemone moved to a great plase on the live rock, I saw this and was not going to let this thing goe. It was at petco and the guy said it was mis marked. it was only 8.49.!!! But everything is great and eating good. I fed the anemone a small piece of refrigerated shrimp and it went crazy. The shrimp fell thru the water and its tenticles greabbed it and went crazy!!! loving these guys.. i ill post sics soon.

what kind of lights are you running? is the clown hosting with the condy? condy's usually don't host very well.

Also, I checked by your dates, 3-27 first post, you said 1 week prior you added your water. This tank is barely cycled. it's not even 2 months old yet. Too early for an anemone.

Did you put more rock in? Are you testing your water? I think you are rushing things, slow down! :) Would you rather do it right the first time or kill things and spend way too much money replacing things that die?

don't even get me started on the life of an anemone;)

did you get anymore of a cleaning crew?

The lights are a hand me down T-8 20 " daylight. No actinic bulbs.

The clown and anemone were produced to the tank 15 minutes from each other. The clown was chilling in it for a couple of minutes they seemed fine. The anemone moved and is looking fine and i know the history of these things and just really wanted one. I thought that i was rushing it but my lfs near home said its sometimes alot harder for a smaller tank and sometimes can be a little easier. I took him a half of a gallon of water and he said things were in good order so lol... idk on that.

I want to add one more scarlet and maybe 2 blue leg. but who knows. I was doing 20% water changes every friday. With precycled water. What ya think?

Your LFS will sell you stuff, just to make a sale. We say it a few hundred times a day.;) I hope they are not like most fls's. I also hope the anemone makes it longer than a month or two. Yes, about the scarlet and blue legs, to me you can't have enough CuC(unless there is nothing for them to eat, which is rare).

Hmmm precycled water? does it come out of your lfs's tanks? Personally, I would make my own for water changes. It's not hard to do and comes out cheaper in the long run.

Do you have any test kits? It would be good if you tested your own water, that way in an emergency, if your lfs is closed, you would know what to look for and what to do. It's just good practice for a reefer to test his/her own water and we usually want to know why and how, anyway.

T8's you say? Hmmm That is not enough light to support an anemone. If you've ever been diving or snorkling in the caribbean, you would see that condy's are in pretty shallow water(compared to the rest of the ocean) and they are most of the time in very bright light. T8's don't even come close. The recommended lighting to have with anemone's in MH's or a descent amout of T5's with the right spectum. If you see the nem is moving around a lot or stays balled up longer than 2-3 days, bring it back to the lfs. They can be quite nasty when they are dieing and pollute your tank bad. Now, you could do a flower anemone with T8's, but the chances of getting it to host a clown are slim and none. Good luck with it and we're here if you need us!

No, I think there is. Who was it? 10 acres I think, was wanting to sell precycled water. It seems there might be a market. :p
