Hey All!It's been quite awhile since I've posted hear,I hope all has been going good for you guys/gals.
In My local forum We've been talking about clay kitty litter. The pros vs cons,so I've been looking for a suitable clay litter to go into My turtlegrass fuge.I've looked in Walmart,Walgreens,Dillons Supermarket,ect..but I haven't found anything that I would consider to be a good clay substrate.

I think I read it here that Tangster uses cory cat litter? If so,that brand must not be available here,or they just don't carry it. Is there a national brand name kitty litter that you can recomend,or link Me to a site,so that I can order some?

I've been reading up on Georgia clay and it seems that it would be a good choice because of the high iron content.

Why not spend just alittle bit more $$ and know something you buy isn't filled with impurities and scents!

    Happy searching!!

Well If I only had a 10g fuge then I would go ahead get 5lbs of MM at ~$10.00 a lb.But since My fuge is~ a M2,or a 100g I'm looking at ~$500.00 to get the same ratio, and for Me thats a little more than a few bucks.

I've looked into laterite and it's almost as high or higher. The LFS here sells it at $15.00 per 20 oz.Thats why I'm looking for an alternitive source.

Tangster doesn't really recommend any particular brand of kitty litter, just so long as it's 100% clay and unscented, it should do just fine.

In my opinion I would leave the kitty for those who have cats or even use it to soak up oil when doing an oil change on their car, or even as a way of reducing the effect of ice in the winter!!
But as far as kitty litter and a marine aquarium why not stick with something that is naturally occurring in nature!!!! You don't see kitty litter in the reefs of the world do you?
Go with aragonite or miracle mud and similar!

Miracle Mud is nothing more than overpriced Georgia clay (a.k.a. kitty litter) :)

Mud is the end result we're looking for here so that's a good thing :)
