Tangster they're both attached to the glass on the bottom of the tank. Shouldn't be that hard to remove once I work up the courage. ;D

Just brush the sand back to see what all they have laid down attached to the glass then use a singles edged razor blade then just cut between the glass and the threads .. Thats easy when on the rocks and its one thread at a time .. But never lift the clam until threads have been cut loose . Thats how so many kill their clams they set then on the bottom then in a few Hrs they will want to move them :) and just pull them up and that tears the ligaments and then the clam gapes and dies It can take a few minuets for the clam to attach or a few days . But never just pull one up with out testing it first.

Ok gang here goes, I did the deed last night and started the tank tear down and nuclear blast. To start I wanted to post a picture of what the tank looked like before the algae issues...

The next thing I wanted to show you guys is how bad off the tank was...

I say bad off but the water continued to test fine at last test... I'm starting to think I've got a bad test kit or as Otty has said in the past a bad RO unit.

Here's some pictures of bmshehan and I getting after it like it's our job. ;D

We mixed 10 gallons of saltwater to make up for the rock we're taking out.

Dipped the rock in fresh water, set it out on the back porch for a bit until we got it all rounded up and last but not least tried to fit all the rock in a 35 gallon trash can like a bad game of tetris.

I've still got roughly 30 pounds of rock in the fuge, wet dry, and what wouldn't fit in the trash can.

I also moved a 20 pound piece with my bright orange zoas into the QT tank. I was hoping to get some pods in there for the 6 line and mandarin as well as add a little bit of filtration to the QT.

I ended up tossing out countless coral last night and will most likely throw some more out tonight. Just don't know if I want to mess with it.

Good news is everything was alive and kicking in the QT this morning.

The only thing I've lost track of is my fromia.

That jug of water is it from your R/O D.I Filter and you just used the old jug or did you just buy it as drinking water to use ?

If you're talking about the 5 gallon jug being dumped into the trash can then it's from my RO unit. No DI yet but that will be part of the new set up. I'm going to totally replace the RO unit with a RO/DI. Not taking any chances on the next try.
Tangster I was going to ask you if I should leave the sand in the tank and fuge while the tank is being bleaced. I'm going to start the 180 back up with all new sand but I'd like to keep all the old stuff for future use. If I'm going to keep it I want to nuke the sand but I haven't ever heard anyone talk about it.

Yep Amcarrig I've got to cut you guys off at the pass. ;D

Next thing you know Otty is going to be on here talking about my hour glass figure... :-[
