I was saying that thinking that we were making you one. That way we just put eggcrate at the top to not restrict water flow. If you go with the ones he has it may look better and we can just take the intake to the CL from inside the tank.

I'm with you now. Yea I like the design of yours being that it doesn't restrict the water. You're pumping a bunch of water through yours aren't you? I'm trying to remember how your CL picks up water...

I think either way would be fine though. The good thing about the strainers being visible is knowing when they have something stuck to them like a blue linkia.... :(

Roger did say that with that much water going through it it might get noisey and I'm really wanting this thing to run quiet like yours does. I emailed him to see if he has an overflow already made that would work for me or how much he would charge me to make one...

I have a HammerHead running 5,800 gph (+/- a little) over the OF and I use two pickup tube just like you have on each side of the OF that picks up for the CL. All the water is pulled out of the one end of the tank since it is a peninsula style tank..

Thats what I was telling him Scott that your end overflow offers so much surface area that you get plenty of water , With his and trying to use a simple middle of the tank and 3 sided overflow the water volume may be a problem over or through the weirs maybe a issue and if he want that route maybe better to drill a bulkhead either side of the overflow up hear to the top for the circulation pumps inlets.

I think that's going to be the plan Tangster and Otty. Just pick up the water for the CL outside the overflow.
My wife has really been dropping the hint on how quiet the basement is now... ;D

I should be ready to drill this thing as soon as this weekend. Everything is going great with the nuking. I couldn't believe all the junk I got off of my rock.

I got the plumbers puddy and 3 in 1 oil for the drill bit.....just say when and we'll see if it's tempered..;)

Well he doesn't but hopefully Matt S does... ;D

Dude I've tried telling her that but she gives me that look like I should feel like hanging out with her...;)

You think we should sell tickets to the "show" Maybe take bets...
You know with my luck if this thing is going to shatter it will be on the last hole not the first one...

I asked Matt to let me know when he thought he'd be sending that bit so you and I could make plans.
I think I'm going to try and drain the tank tonight until I figure out why it settled so much after being level for the past year. That's really got me worried. Of course maybe it hasn't been level. Who knows...

    Always something isn't it?

Do you know the brand name of the tank ? Honestly I give you odds its not tempered not many larger tanks are except the bottom panel of glass is sometimes . I'd not worry to much about it being tempered.. even a perfecto is seldom tempered at that size I have drilled 20 or so Perfecto's and on anything above 75 gals I have never hit a tempered one on the sides ..

When I bought the tank used it was supposedly an All Glass Aquarium. There aren't any stickers on the bottom of the tank though.

I'm just going to drill it and if it shatters I'm going to start KOgle's awesome 30 gallon QT tank thread...
