    Everything is slowly calming down. Back to 50 hour weeks instead of 70 thankfully! My grandma's house is coming together, ready for sheet rock now and we're supposed to have some volunteers coming in here in the next couple weeks. Someone is donating the drywall with full install THANKFULLY!! We won't even have to touch it they are doing everything including finishing in a day or two. I need to make an update on my flood post... Did anyone else know how much time having an infant takes?!?! LOL!!

    Well update on the 180, I finally got a diatom algae bloom 7 weeks into the cycle. Not the most picture worthy progress but it's progress.

    I've heard people say that the diatom algae bloom is a good way to know the nitrogen cycle has completed. Any merit to this?

    Well gang an update, I tested last night and water is as follows,

    Calcium = 440 - 460
    DKH = 14.1
    Mg = 1150

    Seems things are getting close to where they need to be but I'd like the Mg to be up around 1400 or 1500.

    I'm having trouble with my pH falling way off at night. 8.15 to 8.2 during the day but down to 7.9 in the mornings.

    I went ahead and fired up the fuge lights last night for the first night to see if this would help stabilize things. I'm not going to run anything in the fuge for another couple of months besides light but when I checked the pH this morning it was at 8.04 so it's an improvement. Of course the temp was a half degree higher as well...

    Always something!

    A early morn Ph of 7.9 is nothing to worry about really the added oxygen given off from the fuge would help raise that . Trying to micro manage one of these things will drive you crazy .. toss a cup of Epsom Salts into the sump that will put you about right with the Mag readings

    Hey Tangster would you go ahead and put some calurpa in the fuge or is it still too early for that? Looking through the notes I didn't see anything about when to fire up the fuge but I know Scott did his around 6 months...

    I've got pods out the ying yang in the fuge but there's nothing in there to eat them... ;D

    I dosed 3 different kinds, wanted to be sure...

    There's nothing in your tank right now for macro algaes to eat so unless you want to add fertilizer to feed theh algaes, I wouldn't do it. One fish might be enough to sustain the algaes for a short time but not for long.
