Sorry about the losses you 2. I knew better about the cleaner wrasse I got, I didn't need him and was bummed that there were no lawnmower blennies so I got him. It was a stupid buy, not crazy stupid but still not neccesary IMO. Oh well, admit your wrong and learn from it I guess!

I think you're right Otty. Should have gotten the little guy. Live and learn I guess.

The rock is on standstill until I figure out if I want to take the chance spending the $1000 I'd need to on a heater and chiller combo. At the very least I've got a great tank to clean out fish and turtles!!! Metz ain't got nothing on me!!!

Check out ebay for a lot of that stuff, don't have to have top of the line equipment. Heck put it in the basement where the dogs cages are.

Well I was finally able to get my calcium up above 400 ppm. It took 5 days of heavy dosing plus running a reactor to do so. Mag and alk are holding steady so I think I'm in good shape. I could almost see the coralline algae grow overnight as soon as the calcium hit 400. I'm going to continue the heavy dosing until it hits 450 to 500 and then I'm going to level it off. Acroporas seem to be liking it as well...

Calcium was holding steady with reactor running at 360 ppm.
    Mag 1500
    Alk/DKH 13.

I don't think the reactor is going to be enough for the tank. I thought about turning it up a bit more but that's going to cause the controller to turn off the solenoid more often. I don't mind dosing though. Now that I'm not drinking etc. my life is pretty boring and I need stuff to keep me busy...

Have you tried any other types of media in your reactor Otty? I know the Knop C recomends Koralith and Marine Depot carries it but it's a coarse grade...
