Well I thought I would give you all an update on my bout with oodinium (marine velvet)

I've been in the hobby 5 years and never had to deal with this.

It's wiped out all of the fish in my 180 except for two. My larger clownfish died yesterday. I started my first tank with this fish. I bought him off of a friend shutting down a pet store. When I bought him he was 13 years old I've had him for almost 5 years. That would make him almost 18 years old. It's really sad this is what did him in and it all goes back to not properly quarentining new fish.

This is a mistake I will never make again.

The only fish I have left are a 6 line wrasse who seems to be doing fine and a lawnmower blenny who isn't showing signs of distress other than rapid breathing. I'm thinking I might lose him as well.

I've learned a very valuable lesson in reefkeeping this past year between having to tear down my 180 to this.

Quarentine absolutely everything. I would even acclimate inverts to seperate water taken out of the display to ensure all old water gets off of them or at least as much as possible.

Unfortunately buddy everything that I have read says that rapid breathing is the 1st sign. Hope this isn't the case for him!!

The lawnmower's breathing was back to normal last night. Maybe I caught him just in time???
The 6 line has never acted sickly. Maybe he's one of those immune fish?

Salinity is now down to 1.016. I'm doing daily water changes when I lower the salinity. Hopefully I can keep at least one fish from the old gang but honestly at this point I'm ok with brining in totally new fish to QT...

Hopefully they both will survive! It killed me yesterday to be in PA looking at all the fish knowing I couldn't buy any.

Yea I know what you mean Bryce. My two fish are finally coming out of hypo. The salinity is currently at 1.012 so they still have a while.

PA called me last night. My decorator crab came in so I'm picking it up tonight. Can't wait to see that guy!!! ;D
