It would be my luck that my husbands beloved kole ( which I feel like spearing right now..) would want to kill the really expensive magnificent foxface we added today. We turned the lights off in the tank for the rest of the day. Anybody have any other advice for me? The mag is significantly bigger than the kole but she keeps trying to blade him.

Keep the lights off for a day and see what happens. You may need to seperate the kole for 3-4 weeks

Not ideal, due to possible nutrient issues - disturbing things in mature set ups is not without risk
but you could try re arranging some of the rockwork in the tank (try to do this carefully and try not to move anything that is on the sand bed )
thus making the place seem relatively unfamiliar to the Kole and thus established territories no longer as clearly defined as they used to be

you may ultimately be faced with making as choice between the 2 fish

I was thinking of dropping the kole in the sump for awhile. It's not a very big compartment though... Rearranging the rock structure is definitely out.

We have a 12 gallon nano ... Sounds really small for a tang, even for tempo housing ?

Putting the tang in a 12g nano is definately not a good idea. It will get majorly stressed and get ich and die for sure.

Because tangs can be so easily stressed, I would consider moving the foxface.

You could try and put up an acrlyic peice that can act as a barrier between for a period of time with holes drilled for lots of ventilation.

Or just let nature take its course and hope they settle down.

What size tank to you have btw?

    Sorry just saw your signature.

Maybe 110g is just a little bit to small for two such big fish.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Try the small mirror taped to the side of the tank trick.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Think I'm going to try Coralline's trick first! :)
