Ok, so I have had my Kole for about a week now. And it won't eat anything. Only pecks at the rocks and glass(does a great job BTW). I feed my fish just about everything. Seaweed chopped(mix of green/brown/red), mysis and brine also Spectrum-a. Doesn't seem to be interested at all. Any advice? thanks all. I should say I have 3 other tangs in the aquarium and they all eat anything and everything. I would think he would take note of them eating and join in.. But no.

Ctenochaetus tangs take longer to get them eating prepared foods. Because of their mouth structure they eat differently. Because their mouth is made to scrap rocks and graze that way vs the pecking at them to get food off.

Good luck! They are great glass and powerhead cleaners. :) I love my Chevron.

I would give him a bit longer to get used to his surroundings. If your live rock is nice and established, he should be ok eating off the rocks for a bit. Hopefully he'll decide he loves prepared foods soon!

My bristletooth likes brine with spirulina, is so so with mysis and absolutely LOVES Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 flakes and pellets.

Mine loves algae sheets soaked in garlic but he doesn't have to compete with other tangs. I think it took him 3 or 4 days to figure out that it was food.

i would try attaching a sheet of nori to your rock and see if it likes that better.

thanks for the suggestions.. I tried the nori around a rock today.. The other 3 tangs went crazy on it.. no luck with the kole though.. I guess only time will tell. I think the saying goes.. you can only lead a horse to water, but can't make 'em drink..

It has been about 2 weeks now and the Kole has finally begun to eat.. Eating mysis, brine, pellets and mixed seaweed. It's still getting used to prepared foods and doesn't eat as much as the others right now, but at least it's eating.. Looking forward to keeping this guy. ;D
