there has been some controversy (hope i spelled that right) over what size tank a kole tang would need. i plan on upgrading in a few months so i was wondering what the appropriate sized tank would be. i will be upgrading to a 40 gallon breeder tank. its demensions are 36 long, 16 high, 18 deep. is this big enough for a kole tang? if not then is there a tang that would fit? would any of these fish fit in this size tank?
    kole tang
    yellow tang
    foxface
if not then could someone point me in the direction of a fish that is colorful and has personality that would fit in this size tank. thanks

imo the tangs would be unsuitable for a 36 inch tank. they like their swimming space. very active. the foxface will out grow the tank also. they grow quite quickly. wrasses are fun and colorful . again, im extolling the virtues of flashers . :) ive had good luck with dwarf angels, but as im sure youre aware they do come with caution regarding coral nipping. just my 2 cents

i thought that wrasses were aggressive? if not then a flasher wrasse seems cool. and adwarf angel would be sweet. which dwarf angel. i like the flame and potters but the flames is easier to take care of.

    x1 flame angel
    x2 clownfish
    x1 lawnmower blenny

is there any room for another fish in a 48 gallon tank?

ive got a flasher . its actually timid in nature. very cool when it flashes. also have the flame , which has been a model fish and great colors.

Yes i believe you could easily fit another 1 or 2 fish (small of course) in that tank.

I like your suggestions of a flame angel, 2 clowns and a blenny. You might add another colorful fish, like maybe a royal gramma or a goby/pistol shrimp combo.
