plan on spending near 200-300$ on one of those... lol. IMO no need for it just because it has settings to pulse and feeding mode etc.. lol bout half the size and no cords in the tank. Its more of a visual thing and more expensive IMO.

I'd rather spend my money on a bigger tank from craigs list then spend 300 on a powerhead.

Listen man I am sure it is. Just there is no substitute for a Porsche. But the thing is my friend... I work very very hard for my money and cannot aford a Porsche nor your 300 power heads :)
Of course I do take donations or portail donations towards purchases of 300 dollar power heads. I can send you my paypal info if you like. All proceeds will go towards my aquarium hehe :)

That sounds like a decent deal I talked to my lfs guy today and am expecting to pay around 50$ apiece for the 1400 gph ones. Man have you seen them ?? He had one in his display tank and boy they are much smaller than k4 and they put out 200 gph more ;) can't wait !

I got mine in from marinedepot.com they had the cheapest prices on the net (after shipping) that I could find. They are significantly smaller than the K4's I have in my 65. I now have 2 K4's and a 1400. The 1400s are much more compact and centered over the magnet which give them a visually better and smaller look. I really like the new 1400 and will probably eventually switch over to 3 1400s. Here are some pictures I took comparing the K4 to the 1400, click picture to enlarge.

1400 is the front right, K4's and back right and front left.

No, but reefbuilders.com has some really good picture comparisons if you go there and just do a simple search. It is shaftless and is much smaller in compairson, it is black this time around and is hollow in the center, its servers a purpose, I just cant remember what.

Here is the reefbuilders article. Lots of pictures, they also have other pages on the evo if you are interested.
