I have two # 1's and 1 nano on my 55 gal. With the two returns from my filter pump at a flow rate of 600 gph, the 2 # 1's at 400 gph each and the nano at around 240 gph (I think), that gives me 1640 gph of circulation. For me, that is plenty. I think what some may not notice is not only the currents blown out of the power head, but the water sucked in. I tried to put a # 2 in my tank in place of one of the 1's and it made my pulsing xenia almost lay down sideways as it was sucked TOWARDS the power head. So the way the water is dispersed makes it much more gentle than a maxi-jet.

I've had one power head for about 6 months, the others are newer but no problems so far. However all the maxi-jets I've had that are approximately 10 years old are still working fine as well (use them to mix water).

So we'll see how the Koralias hold up.

Koralia's is what I switched to a year ago. I have two #2's. As for your aquaclear powerhead, the reason it's creating bubbles is due to the air tube. Remove it completely & make sure the fitting on the powerhead that the tube was connected to is underwater. That will fix the air bubble issue for now. I had one in my tank when I first started.

I had one stop working once. I turned the pump off, removed the turbo snail that had crawled in there and jammed it up, then turned it back on and has worked great ever since! :)

(No turbo snails were harmed in the making of this post.)

I am down for the korilas. I have two, #2 & #3, and they work great, other then being over rated. Otherwise the only beef I have is that they made salad out of 2 of my lettuce nudiabranchs, one blue spotted sea hare, and finished off a fox face [give he also got stuck to the other korila and a maxijet used for overflow syphion]
