Koralia's are a really popular choice for powerheads. I have two K4's and I have plenty of turbo snails roaming through my tank. Sometimes they make there way on the power head. Never was concerned about them getting inside and mangling the impeller. One day I heard a buzzing noise. was a snail vibrating inside my powerhead. I had no idea how it didnt hit the propeller. Lucky!!!

So was time to get creative cause I didnt like the guard attachment that comes with the powerhead. Its purpose is also to concentrate flow.

The snail guad/ flow concentrator is to the right of the powerhead.

I personally dont like it cause its bulky and messes with my flow to where it doesnt give my tank good flow patterns

So... I pulled out a trusty tube of super glue GEL

What I did is take the screen and put it on the inside of the housing. The screen has 4 grooves that match up with the shaft support. (circled in yellow)

I just added enough superglue gel in those four spots (inside and outside) so the screen would adhere in place. This creates a guard for the snails. And serves me personally much better than the snail guard/flow concentrator it comes with...

Im not concerned with the white look in the four spots cause in time they will be covered in coralline.

Hope you could use these neat little mod....

Heres additional pictures with different angles :)

Its cool and I have 6 4s in my system although I did not notice any change in flow without the screen on there? Did you see substanital improvement without this on there? I had mine off for cleaning and had them running without any change in flow? Not bucking this im curious?
