What a great question! I've been following the WP 40 since before it came out and the subsequent pumps as well. Alot of the people compare price before functionality to another known wavemaking pump and when placed in that category, the reviews often place quality behind price, not as a function of.

If I had a dollar for every time i read "even if it breaks down/stop working after a year its great" I would buy myself alot of pizza. for ~$100 it can't be beat sure, unless you factor in alot of people who have the controllers go out, or lose flow after 6 months, etc. Keep in mind these have only been around a short time. I think the company will increase quality with subsequent generations, but that will also increase price.

In 15 years I've never had a maxi jet, sicce, or danner pump quit on me. I've ever had an issue with the 6 vortechs I run either, but have only had them for 2-3 years.

Most people are so polarized when it comes to anything related to ecotech, even by comparison its hard to find honest people with honest results. At the end of the day I sold my WP-40s for two reason: Too many people had similar problems after 6 months to a year, and the else mode (the only really desirable mode personally for my tanks) was not able to be turned down. The last shouldn't even be a problem because I was going to run them through my reef angel with custom programs identical to the vortechs.

Fish Street has a great reputation for taking care of foreign customers and fast shipping though, so thats a big plus.

maxi- jets are what i used on my cichlid tank, and NEVER failed. complete faith in that product personally. as a powerhead, they just seemed to LOOK better to me, but when i cjanged the parts to use it as a circulation pump, it just seemed too big to me.

the thing that appealed to me about the jebao is that they are far smaller, and the pulse and gph controls.

i guess i'll go read some more reviews on them before i go buying them. maybe i'll just stick to old faithful, the maxijets.

Just manage expectations. They are very affordable, but wont last a decade like some others. Most people only keep equipment for 1-3 years anyway before upgrading or leaving the hobby so longevity is not a principle concern.

Not gonna lie vinny, I love having electricity on the outside of the tanks. That being said I'ne never heard of a WP powerhead leaking electricity. Just stopping or decreasing in performance.

    1. MJ does also come with the power - fan type head, that puts out a LOT of flow.
The mounts kinda suck though- I'm using the hang over the side mount it comes with, the suction cups don't hold long.
    2. Have you seen my thread on how awful Koralias can be after a year or so?
    3. My Jabeo's, both my RP- DC1200, and my WP40's- are awesome pumps. So far, so good

In response to the op, I have had two koralias running on one of my tanks and they are ok but they do have "bugs" to them. I also find that they trap debris in their cracks which makes it a necessity to clean them frequently. If you want a pump that works, they are fine. However, I do now have a wp-25 and really like it. I like the flow it puts out, it rarely traps debris and is controllable. The jury is out on longevity so you have to figure that in. Maxi jets are great little pumps and if you can make yours work to give a good spread of flow, I would keep them.
