Today I did a little research and my Long Tentacled Anemone and I believe it is a Magnificent Sea Anemone instead damn LFS, well I was changing some water (10 gallons) because my nitrates are 20 ppm, now there between 5-10ppm. I finished filling up the tank and plugged everything back in and adjusted my protein skimmer. Well I went to fill up a container to make salt for the next water change and I came back and he was sucked into the Korallia 3 I quickly shut everything off and gently pulled him out. He has a little bit of white stuff coming from his mouth, and is pretty well shrunken to probably about 1/4 the size. What can I do besides try and keep the nitrates down and keep the water in the best condition I can.

    Tank Specs
    29 gallon
    Coralife Super Skimmer 125
    Penguin 200 no biowheel
    18 pounds of Live rock
Outer Orbit Pendant 10000k 150 watt metal halide
Outer Orbit Pendant 15000k 150 watt metal halide
Run lights about 8-9 hours a day

    inhabitants:
    Blue damsel
    1 firefish goby
    2 small maroons
    bubble tip brittle star
    pencil urchin
    15 hermits
    2 mexican turbos
    skunk cleaner shrimp

    Water parameters
    Temp 77
    Salinity 1.022
    Nitrite 0
    Ammonia 0
    Ph API 8.4
    Ph tetra 8.3
    phosphate 0
    Ca 460
    KH 10

Just trying to figure out what to do I feel bad for the little guy, totally my fault for not paying attention to what he was doing. I'm kind of mad at the LFS for telling me it was a LTA though, what can you do.

I'm confused - is the question about nitrates or the anemone?
    How is it doing now?
You have 300 watts of halide on this 29? I am surprised you can keep the heat down - is this open top?

I hope your anemone survives the slight chopping he recieved by the K3! I had two K2's and never had anything sucked in. And with my MH I used to have on the 29g It wasn't overkill, the anemone like it so much he grew up as tall as possible and his tentacle tips even turned white! I also had it about 16" above the water surface. Also I didn't use a skimmer and just kept a low bioload.

heats not a problem, I do have two glass lids covering about 3/4 of the tank top, tank is 78 degrees with both halides on, i keep my room pretty cool, while actually the schools heating system isn't very good (dorm room), so its always cool, the anemone is probably back to about 3/4 size he's hiding between a couple pieces of lr with his tentacles popping out of the crack, my question was really what to do to keep him healthy after getting lodged in the power head, and what to do to keep nitrates down besides waterchanges, thought about buying one of those aquafuge refugiums, but i'd rather put that money into putting together a sump, (mainly pump and cpr overflow), I already have a tank i can make into a sump, I did just get 45 pounds of lr today from petsolutions, that should help once its done curing, smell was pretty good, for 2nd day air from LA to Wisconsin, I was hoping for smaller pieces though, shipped me 3 huge pieces of lr, all 3 over a foot in diameter

Anemone is dead, it got sucked up again and I had to cut it in half to get it out of the korallia, I put it in a quarantine and it just melted away

Sorry for your loss! Mine was also almost cut by Koralia 2. I've wiped very fine plastic mesh around my Koralia 2. I've bought it as a fish net in local fishing equipment store. I would do the same if I were you!
