What is the ideal placement of Hydor Koralia water circulation pumps. I have mine near the top on the side in the back corner pointed towards the front center. Or is closer to the bottom pointing up better? Or something else completely? Any tips appreciated. Thanks

what you want to accomplish with powerheads is not having any dead spots, so this isn't a one place is good for all question. your just gonna have to judge where the tank needs flow the most

unless you have a small tank, if not , then you will most likely need more than one head. I always liked one on each end and one on each side, adjacent from each other. Unless you want to have the flow crash together and make a whirlwind in the tank.

I have one in each back corner point toward the front middle glass. Maybe I should get 2 more.

I have my 2 toward the top of the tank maybe 30-40% from the front of the tank and almost pointed directly at each other. I love the flow that happens when they crash into each other in the middle, it creates a back and forth effect in the middle of the tank as one powerhead takes over for a few seconds and then the other one does.

One thing to keep in mind is that creating good surface agitation is a good thing, which I think is why a lot of people keep them up high, it helps with aeration/gas exchange and helps keep any films from forming on the top of the water.

That said, I think I'm going to try moving them toward the back and pointing them toward the front this week and see how that works out.

Try it out, if you don't like the flow change it up! That's one nice thing about the koralias, it's super easy to change up, just make sure to let them run for a few minutes in each configuration so the currents get a chance to stabilize. :)
