lol bro! a salt debate! that opens up a huge can of worms on here! But heres my thoughts! They seem to be pretty similar! Alot of pro's seem to like the IO and others not! I think instant ocean reef crystals are the number one seller for a reason! i just wouldnt go with the cheapo's!

I was thinking red sea pro coral wasn't the cheapest wasn't the most expensive.

great start with everything cant wait to see more. i am about to be doing the same thing as you with building the stand but just waiting to find a decent tank cheap. im trying to stay on a budget like you. it wold be cool if you could hook me up with the plans from that stand cuz id like to build the same one. and with the salt, ive always used oceanic it always keeps my levels stable never have had a problem with it.

look at the levels each has! I wouldn't stress too much on which one! If you are gonna test and have corals, you're gonna have to dose either way! Thats why i think not spending premium for salt is a good idea! IMO

My plans are pretty simple but if I haven't thrown them away ill scan them on here or I can scan and email them to you. I need to tally up what the total cost on this thing is and see how I'm doing on affordable. I oculd have done the stand much cheaper but all my trim and cabinent edges are oak, adds the pennies up fast.
cos and smith noted on the salt guess I better start reading on dosing.
