Cool thanks, changed my carbon, gfo, and cleaned my skimmer. Did about a 12 gallon waterchange friday and have done about 6 so far today plan to do about 10 more when its ready.

 

Maybe some humor to you guys, I haven't found it yet. So, last night I did about a 12 gallon water change, makes about 22 gal in past week and a half, I think. Big water changes are hard for me due to limited space in an apartment. Needed to make up some more rodi water just to have, so I hook upthe unit turn on the tv and fall asleep. Which never happens I have insomniaand rarely sleep. Needless to say I flooded my apartment. Thank goodness my girlfriend woke up at the same time to tell me how to fix it and I wasn't doing it right. (shaking my head) So, got it cleaned up as good as I can, thinking I would reward myself and see that it was worth it to change the water I check my nitrates which were 10 ppm prior water change are 20-40ppm today ***. Then to top that off I am having a cyano outbreak I think, again ***. I tested the basics to see whats going on.

Sounds like a rough night, sorry to hear about that. I know how women can be as well. I've been married for 6 years almost, and I do a lot of things wrong lol. Everything will work itself out, just be patient.

 

That happens from time to time! Just some of the joys of Reefkeeping!

 

Update ... tanks gross lol clean up crew looks happy. I don't think it is cyano thought it appears to be diatoms (brown stuff) and some green hair algae. Still not sure how my tank parameters got thrown out of whack. I used a rubbermaid container to mix my saltwater and it was in there for a day could that have leached something. I am going to switch to all five gallon buckets they are more manueverable. D you guys just get the ones from the hardware store?

and ahhh floods.... lol been there. i now run my ro/di water into containers i place in my tub. the ro/di unit hooks to the bathroom sink with a quick connect.

 

That is a nice early B-day present lol.

 

I think maybe I should use my brain and use the spare bathroom that has a tub we don't use. fml and thanks
