yeah who cares about the chaulking in a sump! gonna be covered in crap soon enough! although the tool to do it right is maybe $2! lol!

As far as the weight issue, are you gonna place this near a wall? If not, maybe buying some T11 or hard pressed plywood and a rug to cover it may help spread the weight out! its gonna weigh a ton! well almost!lol

Its going to be against what i think is a weight bearing wall. It's the one between my apt and the next. I am pretty sure It is brick in between seeing as I have never heard them and the just moved because they were too noisy. (Complex ppl told me this the other day.(they have a two year old tornando)) I would have zero worries if I was positive I was over multiple trusses but i believe them to run the other way which isnt really an option. Since my only window in there is on that wall.

get a long nail!lol and drive it through the wall an see if you hit brick! then use toothpaste or spaackle to fill the hole! You're stand should be safe to spread the weight out if its near a load bearing wall! With that said, you're talking about 1500 pounds of wieght! it might be worth it to buy something to spread that out farther! i'm thinking either a few 2x8x12's or 2 T11 boards!

Good idea i will do that (think I'll pull the base board off so i don't have to spackle or repaint) and yes I will look into put something down to spread the weight, it is gonna be heavy!

well ya figure 8 pounds per gallon, ples the weight of the rock and equipment etc! like i said, doing what i do, i always recommend well over what is necessary! But imagine all the money you're gonna sink into this, and all the time, and then in a few months the joists start sinking cause ya didn't drop $30-40 t spread the weight! just saying! lol! keep the thread going! gonna steal the plans!

friendly advice! just go to a carpet remnat store and get a piece your girl likes! but this is the important part! wrap the edges in a styrofoam wrap! im thinking a 1-2" pipe wrap! that way when you get up late at night you dont bust your toes up!

Cosmo you are full of great ideas once again. I was figuring just matching the carpet so it would be less noticeable. Thanx for all the advice on this project I really appreciate it.

Well, got a little bit done today put the cabinent door frames together. Also, cut the ply wood out and nailed it on. Still need to cut trim, put it on, fill nail holes, put cabinent doors on, and varnish the whole thing. Then that will be it for the stand. I'm still not a big fan on the stain I used but I am not redoing it lol. Guess it is going to have to grow on me.
This leaves me with plumbing and lights to do. I don't need lights to cycle this do I? (dumb question?)
Still need to get a few things; rocks(I've got a few pieces not to sure if I like them though), a couple power heads(any advice on water movers?), RODI filter(know which one just forget the site), filter sock, and a few odds and ends i suppose.
Here are a few pics to keep these pages pretty .......
