I would email John at Reefcleaners.org and see what he has to say.

Just an update, we have slowly been adding some crabs in to manage the funk in the tank, we are up to 15 red stripe hermits, 5 blue dwarf hermits, 2 peppermint shrimp, and just today added a porcelin crab and a emerald crab. Nitrates are slowly declining, and we are down to about 40 ppm, so we are happy. We tested the water in the bag from the lfs and it was arnd 80ppm of nitrates, which is scary. We also picked up a flipper cleaner, which worked very well at getting rid of the film algae.

I had some time after work one day and got all of the cords up off the floor of the sump, and added a large power strip that spans the length of the fuge area under the tank.

We are probably still 2 or 3 weeks away from getting our first fish, but we are making progress!

    Here are some pictures:

Yeah, that picture really shows all the bits of debis that are all over everything. We got the pair of peppermint shrimp to work on the aptasia we having popping up everywhere, but they dont seem to terribly interested in it.

As soon as that emerald crab hit the bottom he started eating everythin he could reach, so hopefully he will do a good job! The porcelin crab hid immediately, and i havent seen much of him since, which sucks cause i like watching them eat...

Got my cuc from reefcleaners, and our first fish ordr from liveaquaria, here are a few pics! We are at 10ppm nitrates, and still dropping, our cyano is growing at a pretty good clip. When we got it, it was roughly tennis ball sized, now it is the size of a small melon.
