I received lots of fish tank money for Christmas and have been placing orders like crazy. The first thing I needed to do was get the light off the back of the tank and mounted to free up space for probe holders and dosing tube holders. Here are a few pictures of the mounting process. First I located the mounting bracket. I also needed to buy the extension kit to get it to work.

Here are the nuts/bolts I used. They even slightly threaded into the fins on the heatsink. I ran out of washers but, oh well I think I'll be ok. I applied a very small amount of super glue to the bolts to keep them from vibrating off.

The light can be adjusted to tilt left/right and back/forward. The entire light swing arm can even be moved to the side.

I used 50lb drywall screws to mount the light to the drywall. I believe they will work but I'm going to keep my eye on them. If I see any problems forming I will switch them out for anchors.

After going bare bottom I decided I wasn't a fan of bare bottom lol. I change my mind a lot, I know. So I put in some indo-pacific black sand from carib sea. This stuff is awesome. The grain size is a bit larger which I think is interesting. The cloudiness even went away after 3 hours. I placed it in the tank by putting the sand in a solo cup, slowly lowering it down to the bottom of the tank and then slowly pouring it out. I didn't rinse it or do anything else to it. Just cut the bag open and carefully put in the sand.

It looks good with the new sand. Nothing wrong with a little bigger grain sand to keep it from blowing around as much. I think your tank looks better with sand.

Thank you. I want to get a really pretty scolly now to contrast the black on the bottom, but that is a ways off.
