Received my clean up crew from Reef Cleaners.
    Bunches of snails everywhere!

I haven't seen the watchman goby poke out from under his rock yesterday or today. Last night I fed the tank and I didn't see him come out. He will come out if he isn't getting food right? Do you think he is finding scraps at night or something?

my goby comes and goes from his little tunnels. Sometimes he's out and about, and other times, I may not see him for a day or two.

I had a three day weekend so I made some pretty good progress with the tank.

Made a trip to the LFS and picked a couple things up. I made the mistake of telling the owner that I had just set up my tank and was using dry rock mixed with live rock. So i got to hear all about how my tank was going to crash and that I shouldn't believe what I read online, blah blah blah. It's crazy what they will tell you to get you to buy things from them. Anyways I purchased a Tiger Pistal Shrimp, a few Blue Leg Hermits, Zoanthid frag and a Candy Cane frag. Here's a few pics...

I did my first water change of 2 gallons. I calculated the total water volume to be 25 gallons when filling it up so that puts me at 8% every two weeks. Do you guys think that is enough or should I do more? I also made some changes to the fuge basket too. I enlarged the section for the chaeto to grow and added filter floss then carbon to the top section. My thoughts were this would allow pods to be released into the aquarium by moving the filter basket up and down a few times and letting the water flow move them into the display. Am I on the right path here?

So I was worried about the watchman goby not coming out when I first added him. It turns out he is just fine and appears to be really happy with his new friend. After adding the pistal shrimp they have been busy tunneling all weekend. They have managed to build about 5 entrances under both columns of rocks. The first pic is them making a trench from one rock column to the other.

Their latest creation is a pretty impressive entrance to one of their burrows. The tiger shrimp used 4-5 empty shells and laid them up against the rock at an angle. Then he covered them with sand only leaving enough room for them to move in and out of. Almost looks like an entrance to a mine. I am glad I chose to add these guys to the tank, lots of interesting behavior coming from these two. :)
