Lake Erie Sand???

    OK so I was just thinking this....since I live on Lake Erie....would it be ok to use sand from Lake Erie in my 150??? How about that?

    I would would say no, JMO. Lake Erie is still not very clean, and you would put that contamination in your tank.

    Even if I wash it real good and soak its for days.....

    i qm going to vote no... i wouldnt even drink water or swim in 90% of lake erie let alone have it anywhere near my tank and i live .5 miles from the lake

    I live in central Ohio and vacation/camp at lake erie,allthough we love the scenery,it is a pretty polluted lake

    Heck no. I've been around the great lakes and I wouldn't have anything like that in my tank, even after soaking or cleaning.

    Heck, I wouldn't do beach sand and it's cleaner to start with.

    Just my 2 cents.

    It's not worth the headache, go buy some sand. It's cheap. If you have to scrimp on the sand for a 150, wait till you get to the real costs. :) Do it right the first time. Even if it takes longer. You'll be happier in the long run.

    lol ok sweet.....I dont have any other costs I have everything I need from my 90 all ready I mean everything.....I just dont wanna go spend $200+ on sand lol

    Nothing wild in a saltwater tank? Most fish are wild caught ;) Same with live rock, and many other critters in the tank.
