I bet you wouldn't mind snagging that marlin in your avatar again, either? :D I still gotta go do that some day...marlin fishing. Spear fishing is still probably the most fun and most exercise I've had while fishing though.

And mi madre and I will be going laptop shopping this morning before I go to work. I will definitely be taking a good hard look at the HP's after the comments on this thread.

And alienware is to dell as Audi is to VW. They're connected, but one is a higher step up from the other. And one has a much higher price tag than the other.

they write viruses for windows because about 98% of computers run windows. If you want to do mass damage thats your target, not Mac. If mac starts to get a bigger share they will start writing viruses for it too.

Edit: And windows has as many security holes in it as a cheese grater. :)

I have had my Toshiba now for a little over a year and like it. No problems what so ever. Plenty enough memory and power for me to do everything I need (mostly music and gaming). I had a Dell before that, and in the 6-7 months I had it, it was at their repair center more than at my house, literally. It had to go back 4 times, each time taking more than 3 weeks. I would never own or recommend a Dell to anyone after that. I have also heard good things about HP's.
And there is plenty of viruses for Macs. Inqtana.A worm, Leap.A, Mac.Simpson are just a few ;)

Good luck with the shopping. Just be sure to tell your mom that dells are bad news, and Alabama is greater than aubarn;D, and take a good look at HP.

I would love to catch another Blue Marlin.. The only thing that came close was a fishing trip in late march where I caught 9 sails over 80Lbs in 4 days.. heck of a trip.. I still want to go spearfishing, it sounds too much fun

The one thing that I like with my Sony laptop is it makes no noise. Other brands are very noisy from their fan. Sony's you will hear nothing. Mine is 3 years old now but still runs good

Well now. I see nobody has mentioned the ever so popular "macbook". When I started school, I purchased one. I sorta regret it, since I've used pc's most my life (still do). But I like it, It's nice and portable. Fits all my uses for "on the go computing". It's a little pricey, but mine has been going solid for about 3.5 years. The new line of the macbooks are classy. I like them. I refuse to associate myself with any mac users because I use my laptop to do laptop things. Not make it a part of my lifestyle like a lot of people I see do that have macs.

Honestly, from what I hear/see you want to go for engineering. Just find something that's got an ample amount of HD space, decent memory and is sick nasty at word processing. (I used to be an EE major before I switched to my current major a few years ago...all you engineers out there. kudos.)

I like your choice so far Jwin. The hp is my choice.
But give the touch smart series a look... You may like what you see... Am really loving my new touch smart tablet. The screen is a bit small but I plan on compensating by getting the 25.5" touch smart desktop;D
It costs a pretty penny but, maybe by next yr this time, the price is gonna drop tremendously lol.:cheesy:
