Ok I have moved this guy several times back to "his" spot, I come home from work- he is 3 or 4 inches moved over- dead center under the halide- WTF? I am finding this kinda funny, I move him- he moves back- seems I need more lighting. Or more will power. ;D

Presently, in a 29 gallon, 150 Viper, and twin coralife atinics- maybe I should bump to a 175/250 MH- think this will make him happpy? He is invading my Derresa's space and causing trouble.

Plate corals walk. That's their thing. You can keep moving him back, it'll do no harm. The walking isn't a sign of unhappiness, just a natural thing they always do.

I remember reading about a study done on these guys. They marked all of the ones in a certain area to see how much they walk in the wild (I think it was a couple square yards). They went back a week later, and not a single one of the ones they marked was left in the area! I'm looking for a link on it, but cant seem to find it atm.

They can actually dig themselves out of the sand, and right themselves if flipped over, too. A very cool, unique set of abilities they have.

Also, I forgot to mention, keep an eye on it. They're considered a really aggressive coral, and are known to kill pretty much any other coral they walk into.

Heh yea, they do walk- so to speak- thought I was crazy when I first got her a few years ago. It's an amazing process how they do this, and mine is pretty large- she generally gets her way. But alas, the D. clam fights back- LOL, he blast the ol' plate w/sand and water- it's really fun to watch- then I move the plate back to just off center and in 2 or 3 days they are right back at it.

It's a hostel take over im telling ya- it really is.

    Amazing.

Edit: Yea, but ya know she really is pretty harmless, she lives with a 25 head Duncan- no harm, a gonaporia, no harm, and an elegance, no harm, and of sourse the clamster.

I think she just likes to be fat under the light- like the lazy super model she thinks she is. She eats like there is no tomorrow, the clowns usually catch up what she spits back out, which isnt much- I dont feed her, I let the water flow do that.
