I know sponges are difficult to ID, but I was wondering if anyone has even a generic name for the type of large white sponge I've found.

It's about half-dollar size and another is growing elsewhere in the aquarium. It's been there happy for about a year now although the aquarium is two and half years old.

I've found plenty of the pineapple sponges, but this looks so incredibly different that I thought I'd post it here. Thanks for your help!

    Pineapple sponge.

Edit: didn't read the whole thing, you already know about pineapple sponges! They come in all sizes, from what I've seen...I've got one that's grown to almost two inches across and even has the little "holes" that you see in yours.

    Thanks jlongwell!

So a pineapple sponge? Do they regularly get this large? I just thought they stayed small...

Edit: Just read your edit. Okay -- thanks! :)
