Just got my 75 g up and running with about 50lbs LR, 50-60lbs base rock, refug with dsb and sump. Total water is about 95g. I am planning for fish and would like to have one larger fish. I could go with a clarki clown as my last fish added. I'd rather have something more interesting as a larger fish.. I'd like a tang but not sure if they're recommended for a 75. I have between 5-10" of free swimming space all across the front. I plan on keeping mostly smaller peaceful other fish, pretty good flow with LPS, zooanthids, and maybe some SPS.. not planning on a huge fish load. Suggestions for a larger fish for me?

How about a nice Grouper, Trigger or one of the many species of Holacanthus or Pomacanthus Angelfish, if you want big!!!!! Yeah, I know, that's over doing it!!!
Their are many species of Flasher and Fairy Wrasses, Flame and Coral Beauty Centropyge (DWARF)Angelfish, the White Face Tang plus their are many species of Zebrasoma that willl do fine in a 75!
Let us know what you decide....just do some reading about the fish and its husbandry + compatibility issues to help you out and make sure you made a wise investment.

the tangs I was looking at are Kole's and Powder Brown (which I just learned is aka White Face Tang). I plan on a 6-line, so probably no other wrasses, long nose hawkfish, a few bar gobies, a blenny. I read the Flame or Coral Bueaty will nip at corals.

Be careful as their are two very different species of Powder Brown Tangs!!! The White face is the easy one, whereas the other Powder Brown is finicky and much more delicate.
Hawkfish and invertebrates don't mix very well as I would be more concerned about that than adding a Coral Beauty or Flame Centropyge to the equation.

Are you looking at something to keep for the life of the fish or rotate in and out as it grows?

You said that you just got the tank up and running. I wouldn't add a powder brown OR a gold rim until at least the 6 month mark, preferably more. IMO, a younger tank can just not sustain such a delicate fish. A yellow tang could work or a foxface though. My vote is something like a coral beauty.

yes, I probably wouldn't add a tang until 1 year.. just planning. I will need a fish that I can keep for the life of the fish.. I will likely be in my place for 3-4 years at least and can't fit a larger tank. One place online recommended 100g for a yellow tang, another 60g. Would your opinion be that it would be alright in a 75?

Yes, a yellow tang will be fine in that tank. I've seen some website quote 30 gallons as being enough, but that's just rediculous... A yellow tang would be ok, but if you're looking for a showpiece fish then IMO that one is far too common, but it would spark a lot of interest and serves a great practical purpose too! GL as I know this is a hard decision, but you've got lots of time!

You would be fine with a yellow tang for a while, but they do grow up to 8-10". A fully grown one will not be happy in a 75gal. tank, and a non-happy fish increases the risk of disease considerably.
