I think I have one braincell left regarding this issue. If memory serves, it had to do with a migration to new forum software many years ago. The posts migrated successfully but some of the dates got skewed.

This is a problem with the clock or the application. In Unix/Linux, which this system is no doubt hosted on, time is calculated as "how many seconds have elapsed since the epoch". The epoch is defined as the beginning of a distinctive period in the history of someone or something. In Unix/Linux the epoch is Jan 1, 1970.

If a call to the system timer returns an error code (usually -1), this number is added to the epoch as a time calculation. In this case it would return 1 second before midnight, Dec 31, 1969.
