Hey guys, im doing a little remodel at my house and have to paint my living room. I will be painting around the tank. I will be using simple latex paint and would not get any in the tank, but would the fumes kill my tank? I wont be using any stains or anything, just some paint and maybe some primer. Thanks!

I have both painted walls in my house & actually stained the tank stand while in use. Neither seemed to give off much as far as fumes. Yes, I used latex paint(semi-gloss) & I think the stain may have been a low-odor. I got both at Lowe's. You should be fine. If you are worried about fumes, maybe put a tarp over the tank until the paint is mostly dry.

You could also, if you want, paint in sections...one wall every x amount of hours, to cut down on fumes.

Open up the house completely, should help with fumes and drying.

Besides the tank, I would buy/use paint with low/no VOC's. Tank will be fine though.

As a house painter myself you will be fine with latex.. most paints nowadays are low VOC.. if you are doing ceilings just cover the tank with plastic when lights are off but a window open with a fan running would help you with peace of mind
