My controller allows me to enter latitude and longitude. For those with controllers, do you enter the coordinates of the location where you live or the coordinates of some nice tropical locale that you are trying to replicate in your tank?

I would assume the tropical venue that you are trying to replicate.

    Just a guess though.

The only thing that I could think of is automatic changes for light and lunar cycle by location in the world. Which would be really cool actually.

I found my own answer in the ProFilux user manual (who would have thought to look there?)

3.14.4 Location: "the coordinates of your location can be set. Factory setting is ... the coordinates of Kaiserslautern in Germany -- your Profilux was produced there!"

Did it happen to say what for? Why would it care where you are?

I entered where I live. It's kinda cool, Because the moon lights actually follow the moon phases for that data. so at a full moon locally my moon lights will be at 100% of the set intensity. But if it's a 1/2 moon it will only be half the light intensity I set

    Nice little toy

Maybe corals can feel the pull of the moon and it's best to match the moon light with the gravitational pull. Just thinking out loud.

    Jason,

I'm thinking that you're right on the money here. And yes it is a really cool little toy. It's pretty amazing to me that it can be so easy to use and so hard to use at the same time:). Once I figure out what to do it's a piece of cake and totally obvious. The trick is figuring out the little details leading up to that point. Once I got my computer hooked up to it, I spent 2 hours today and now I have totally independant control of seven lighting ballasts. Small time investment up front should give me infinite control from here on out.
