I upgraded my lights to 250w Odyssea from 175w Odyssea bulbs about 5 weeks ago. Seems some things were losing color like my monti and red planet SPS. The lava had a couple of white spots but for the most part seemed stable... but was probably most stable under the 175w bulbs.
Now last week I upgrade the Odyssea bulbs to 250w 14k SPS bulbs with icecap ballast. I reduced daylights from about 8 hours to 6 for acclimating. The bleaching of the Lava seems to have accelerated. I moved it lower in the tank today...
Other params seem normal. Some websites say high light and some say low to moderate so I was a bit confused.. I hope the lower lighting works.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Oh... yeah.. I was wondering if color will come back or are those white spots "dead"? Color seems it may be coming back on the monti.

I have a chalice and initially it was very picky, it didn't like where I put it at first, it started to darken, I moved it and then moved it again. It may be the positioning and flow, how long have you had it in the position?

It was in the same spot since I got it. 5 weeks. The big change was the lights. I'm pretty sure now it just can't handle that much light.

Yea, I was just checking. Well, i think you can be pretty sure it's not from too little light. I would do what you are doing, put it at the bottom, and raise the height slowly and just see what happens. Mine was weird about lighting too.

chalice do not like lot of light....I have my miami hurricane on the bottom of the tank and have it under a little ledge so that it can be sheltered. Make sure you dont allow sand to touch the chalice as that will kill it
Post a picture also of the chalice. I had a bacteria infection on mine and parts of it died. Keep an eye on it and see how fast it dies...my big concern is always RTN.
Just reread your thread and you said bleaching...that should do better in low light!

It did fall over one day so I hope that didn't kill it. I've got it super low in the tank now so I hope it stabilizes. thanks.
